The Boost in Italian Online Gambling

Ironically, Italy previously had a prohibitionary stand against Internet gambling. This stand has now been reversed and the country has opened its doors to a more liberal and regulatory acceptance of online gambling. Because of this, this European country is considered as a forerunner of online gambling in the region.

The change in the country’s attitude towards online gambling may be credited to the country’s Court of Justice decision on the Placanica case. This favorable decision was later on compounded by the invitation to casino operators to establish their business in Italy’s more liberal market. Not surprisingly, this invitation resonated worldwide and now numerous gambling companies are definitely looking into the viability of Italy as a source of gambling revenues.

Italy proved itself serious about its invitation. Since the Planica Case ruling, it has issued more than 15,000 licenses to numerous gambling operators like William Hill and Betfair. This growth in Italy’s online gambling industry may be credited to the positive expectations that the country has on online gambling. It is believed that Italy will loosen its reins more and more gambling firms will make the corresponding investments. Want to learn more about the Italian Online Casinos Industry?
